About Us

Everlasting Concepts recognises the endless potential and possibilities of Western Australian plants but also recognised the potential of the destruction and impact of environmental weeds.

What is an environmental weed?

Environmental Weeds are plants that have a direct impact on biodiversity. Biodiversity is the complex relationship between all the native species (flora and fauna) in an area. The balance can be upset when weeds and other invasive species move in.

Why do we need to promote awareness of environmental weeds?

If we don't create awareness of problem plants we will continue to lose valuable biodiversity.

'Sleeper Weeds',  'Garden Thugs' or 'Garden Escapes' are the environmental weeds that Everlasting Concepts will focus on in the '4 Season Seminars'.

What is a 'Sleeper Weed'?

'Sleeper weeds' are plants that have not yet invaded the environment but have the potential to do so. 'Sleeper weeds' are being currently been grown in Western Australia have the potential to naturalise and establish themselves if not maintained and disposed of correctly.

Over the coming months this link will assist you to understanding the variety of plants that have the future potential to damage our wonderful and fragile bushland.

What is a 'Garden Thugs' or 'Garden Escapes'?

'Garden Thugs' or 'Garden Escapes' are plants that have escaped from gardens
and have become environmental weeds. A study by the Weeds CRC showed that of all new weeds recorded between 1971 and 1995, about two thirds were deliberately introduced as ornamentals. Approximately 1200 introduced plants have naturalised in Western Australia.
